I found some beautiful ice formations created by frigid -16 conditions, so I asked a friend to step in as a model for my shot.
Before bringing her into the frame, I took 5 focus-stacked images of the scene, starting with the first focus point close to the camera and ending with a focus point farthest into the distance.
I added a neutral density filter to slow down the shutter speed and smooth out the water so that the ice formations were more visible. (30 second exposures).
I placed my model in a central position, and not too high in the frame to make sure the wide-angle lens didn’t distort her body (Image shot at 14mm).
I combined the images in photoshop afterwards.
