We just tested the new Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF. Here are some of our favourite features!
This lightweight auto-focusing lens with full-frame capability is available in Nikon Z and Sony E-mount. It features an ultra-wide angle of view of 130.4° while maintaining a weight of only 0.93 lb. / 420g. Laowa’s signature “Zero-D” performance results in minimal distortion, making it perfect for environmental portraiture, landscape photography, and astrophotography. It’s also a fun lens to capture fun or interesting family action shots.
The Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D FF is a great wide-angle addition to any lens arsenal. It can capture foreground elements up close, thanks to its very short minimum focusing distance of only 12cm, which results in a maximum magnification of 0.24x.
The autofocus version has a five-bladed diaphragm and a 2.8 aperture, allowing plenty of light for nightscapes or astrophotography. The Laowa lens is compact, and it’s cool that it can accept 77mm front filters, a rare feature for ultra-wide lenses. We love a good compact lens. This one weighs just 0.93 lb / 420g, making it a great option for gimbal video work or keeping your kit light. The lens also incorporates Laowa’s exclusive frog-eye coating, which protects it from water and oil.
We found this lens to produce high-quality results. The autofocus worked well when paired with a Sony Full-Frame body, and this lens provides a great balance between compactness, quality, and value.
