LLight pollution is a real issue to deal with when shooting the night sky. In fact, when capturing a starry sky, the amount of light pollution from light sources, like the shimmering illuminations from the city below in the distance, could make the sky look too bright, drown out the light from the stars, and create colour shifts all over the final image.
The Kenko Starry Night Filter effectively reduces light pollution stemming from city lights and illuminations, giving the image a natural and higher contrast finish. Specifically designed for astrophotography, this filter is recommended for night time enthusiasts.
● Captures the original colour of the night sky by cutting unwanted lights of a specific wavelength.
● Makes post processing of RAW images easier.
● Recommended for stacking with other filter effects, particularly soft effects.
● Thin frame design prevents vignetting, even on wide angle lenses.
● Made in Japan.
FEATURES
Reduces colour blur caused by city lights
Sodium and mercury city lights cause the night sky to appear yellowish or orange in colour. A light pollution filter will reduce this colour blur and reproduce natural colours While it is common to remove pollution in post processing , it is ideal to use filters like the Kenko Starry Night, to cut down on light pollution This reduces the number of steps involved, and makes processing of RAW images easier.
Ideal for astrophotography and night scape photography
Starry Night is ideal for astrophotography and night photography , as there is no limit to the focal length of the
lens used, and no colour shift with wide angle lenses. It is also strongly recommended for night and time lapse
photography, where post processing is difficult.

Wow! That’s quite a filter! I have done some astrophotography using a clip-in LP filter but this seems much better and easier. My only wish is that they were less expensive so that I could purchase several for different lenses.
Thanks
Hi Edward,
Instead of buying filters for all your lenses, buy the filter for your largest lens that you’re going to use the filter with and then use stepping rings for the smaller lenses.
Kenko offers stepping rings here: https://www.kenko-global.ca/product-category/accessories/step-ring/
Another great choice is the Revoring stepping ring from H&Y Filters – it replaces multiple stepping rings with one ingenious product: https://hyfilters.ca/product/revoring-variable-step-adapter/
