Welcome to Hahnemühle’s international student photo competition! Here you can find out everything you need to know about our competition and stay up-to-date.
You have the chance to submit a series of five photos and take part in our photo competition – no matter what your individual style and focus is. The choice of theme is left entirely up to you, as long as it complies with the terms and conditions of entry.
You can submit your work via our upload portal from 1 March to 30 April 2019.
Important information: the competition consists of two rounds. In the first round, the jury selects 50 finalists from among all the online entries. In the second and final round, the 50 finalists will submit their photo series printed on Hahnemühle paper.
To make choosing the paper easier, every finalist will receive a set of Hahnemühle sample packs. This means that every participant in the final round has the opportunity to choose the paper that best suits their own photo series. We’ll then give each finalist a box of 25 A3+ sheets of their chosen paper.
Submit your photos – we’re looking forward to seeing your work!
Let’s get started – here’s how to take part!
It’s easy to take part. Use our upload portal to upload your photo series and fill out all the required information. We need your name, date of birth, address, title and a concept description of your series and of course, the photos! Accept the terms and conditions of entry and you’re ready to submit your photo series to our competition. Your series will only be viewed by our jury. Participation is only possible via our upload portal.
Face the challenge and meet our Jury!
For our student photo competition, we have assembled an internationally renowned jury who will evaluate your photos from a professional perspective. Our jury, made up of photographers, photo journalists, gallerists and other experienced photo industry experts, will evaluate your photo series according to the following criteria:
- artistic quality – composition, creativity and visual persuasiveness
- technical quality – technical/practical implementation
- quality of content – congruence between the concepts and visual implementation
Enter our competition and impress the jury with your work and creativity! In the coming weeks, you’ll find out who will be part of the jury. From January 2019, we will gradually reveal the members of the jury.
It’s worth taking part!
The top three finalists will receive a cash prize of EUR 1,500 for first place, EUR 1,000 for second place and EUR 500 for third place. The prize money is intended to further promote and financially support your photography work.
As a special highlight, the winning photo series will be displayed at the Hahnemühle booth at Photokina 2020 (including PR support). Moreover, special and exclusive exhibitions such as in a Galerie in Hanover are planned – for a duration of 6 weeks!
