Camp Canon encourages youth and teens to explore creativity through photography safely this summer.
Canon Canada, Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is excited to announce the launch of Camp Canon: an online summer camp for 11-14 year olds that teaches the basics of photography and the art of storytelling through images. Campers will be able to learn new creative skills as well as “meet” and connect with other campers in their age group during this summer’s social distancing mandates.
No experience is required! Camp Canon is a fun and safe way for young people to explore their world with daily online sessions, knowledgeable instructions and immersive photo challenges that will teach the basics of using a DSLR or mirrorless camera. These live, instructor-led classes are conducted by experienced photographers who are also familiar with teaching small groups and youth, with class sizes capped at 8-12 campers to ensure a rich, rewarding experience for all.

There are two, one-week Canon Camp sessions available, running from July 8 to August 28. Campers meet daily during the week for a 45-minute video conference where they are taught the day’s lesson and given a photo challenge for the day. The two sessions offered this summer include:
- Photo Foundations introduces campers to the history and techniques of photography with easy to understand camera techniques.
- Storytellers delves into more advanced settings and techniques to take campers’ photos to the next level. Note: to enroll in Storytellers, kids must first complete Photo Foundations.
