Canadian talent took center stage at the World Photographic Cup (WPC) Awards Ceremony in Quito, Ecuador, as three Canadian photographers proudly represented Team Canada in person. “We had an absolutely amazing time! It was a true honour to be part of Team Canada and to represent our country here in Quito,” said team member Lee Milliken. “Along the way, I’ve made lifelong friends and found a whole new level of inspiration that has deepened my passion for photography.”
With six Canadian finalists in the running this year, the excitement was electric as the world’s best photographers gathered to celebrate artistic excellence. Back home, the rest of WPC Team Canada came together virtually, united in spirit as they watched and cheered for their nation’s top photographic talents. In the end, Canada secured an impressive 6th place ranking in the world, continuing its legacy of excellence on the global stage.
“It’s exhilarating to be part of Team Canada’s remarkable streak, holding our place among the best in the world,” said Dee Potter speaking from Ecuador. “From inspiring conversations to shared artistic passion, this experience has been nothing short of extraordinary. And above all, there’s no greater honour than standing on the world stage, proudly wearing the Canadian flag!”
Canada’s strong performance was made possible by the six talented photographers who were all Top 10 in their categories, with one earning a prestigious Gold Medal.

Earning Canada its only medal, a Gold, Nick Didlick’s stunning sports image showcased the Paris Olympic kayaking splash down. “It’s a humbling experience to be chosen as a medalist representing Canada in the World Photographic Cup,” said Didlick who watched virtually. “I feel like an Olympic athlete standing on the podium with such talented photographers. While I am a medalist, so many great photographs were taken worldwide that this is a special honour.”
The World Photographic Cup—often called the ‘Olympics of Photography’—brought together 28 nations in a team photographic competition that celebrates creativity, technical mastery, and storytelling. Team Canada’s continued success is a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of its photographers, who showcase the nation’s artistry to the world. Canadians like Alexander Sviridov, who stood on stage tonight, “I’m incredibly happy to represent Team Canada and honoured to be recognized among the top 10 photographers in the world. This achievement inspires me to push my creativity even further, and I’m already looking forward to preparing for next year.”

Le talent canadien a occupé le devant de la scène lors de la cérémonie de la Coupe du Monde de la Photographie (WPC) à Quito, en Équateur, où trois photographes canadiens ont fièrement représenté l’Équipe Canada en personne.
« Nous avons passé un moment absolument incroyable ! Ce fut un véritable honneur de faire partie de l’Équipe du Canada et de représenter notre pays ici, à Quito, » a déclaré Lee Milliken, membre de l’équipe. « En cours de route, j’ai noué des amitiés durables et découvert une toute nouvelle source d’inspiration qui a approfondi ma passion pour la photographie. »
Avec six finalistes canadiens en lice cette année, l’excitation était à son comble alors que les meilleurs photographes du monde se sont réunis pour célébrer l’excellence artistique. Pendant ce temps, au Canada, le reste de l’Équipe Canada s’est rassemblée virtuellement, unie dans un même élan, pour encourager leurs compatriotes. Au final, le Canada s’est classé à une impressionnante 6ᵉ place mondiale, poursuivant ainsi son héritage d’excellence sur la scène internationale.
« C’est exaltant de faire partie de l’incroyable parcours d’Équipe Canada, en maintenant notre place parmi les meilleurs du monde » a déclaré Dee Potter depuis l’Équateur. « Des conversations inspirantes aux passions artistiques partagées, cette expérience a été extraordinaire. Et surtout, il n’y a pas de plus grand honneur que de se tenir sur la scène mondiale, arborant fièrement le drapeau canadien ! »
La solide performance du Canada a été rendue possible grâce à six talentueux photographes qui se sont classés parmi les 10 meilleurs dans leurs catégories respectives, dont l’un a décroché une prestigieuse médaille d’or.

Grâce à sa médaille d’or, Nick Didlick a offert au Canada son seul podium de la compétition avec une image spectaculaire d’un kayakiste olympique plongeant dans les eaux de Paris. « C’est une expérience incroyablement émouvante d’être sélectionné comme médaillé d’or pour représenter le Canada à la Coupe du monde de la photographie, » a déclaré Didlick, qui a suivi la cérémonie à distance. « Je me sens comme un athlète olympique sur le podium, entouré de photographes de talent. Bien que je sois médaillé, tant d’images extraordinaires ont été capturées à travers le monde, ce qui rend cet honneur encore plus spécial. »
Surnommée les « Jeux olympiques de la photographie », la Coupe du Monde de la Photographie 2025 a réuni 28 nations dans une compétition photographique d’équipe mettant en valeur la créativité, la maîtrise technique et l’art de raconter des histoires à travers l’image.

Alexander Sviridov, qui a eu l’honneur de monter sur scène ce soir, a exprimé sa fierté :
