Why Sunbounce Stands Out: A Revolution in Light Control

Since its inception in 1999, Sunbounce has been at the forefront of light manipulation for photographers and filmmakers. Designed by professional photographers for professionals, the Sunbounce system offers a versatile, lightweight and foldable solution to control and enhance light under any conditions.

Explore the Sunbounce Lighting Tools

Sunbounce offers five distinct tools, each designed to simplify and elevate your work:

1. Sun-Bouncer 3D

  • Ultra-mobile with a patented 3D frame construction.
  • Available in sizes ranging from the MICRO-MINI (60 x 90 cm) to the BIG (180 x 245 cm).
  • Durable yet lightweight, with integrated grips for easy handling.
  • Larger sizes are easy to disassemble for portability and include a storage bag.

2. Sun-Swatter 3D

  • A hovering, contrast-reducing screen that moves with your subjects, resembling a giant fly swatter.
  • Available in three sizes to fit your needs, from 90 x 120 cm to 180 x 245 cm.

3. Sun-Scrim

  • Static, square frames perfect for larger, more controlled setups.
  • Available in sizes from 6’ x 6’ to 12’ x 12’ for both diffusion and reflection.

4. Sun-Mover

  • A focusable, oval reflector offering three light qualities: hard, neutral, and soft.
  • Compact, portable, and made to handle a variety of lighting conditions.
  • Integrated handles make Sun-Mover easier to aim than most folding reflectors.

5. Bounce-Wall

  • A small, portable reflector that softens light from speedlights for studio-quality results on the go.
  • Designed to follow the “45/45 rule” for perfect light placement.

6. Wind-Killer

  • Unique fabric that blocks 75% of the wind without creating a vacuum behind the screen.
  • Prevents wind from affecting sensitive Steadicams on location or ruining talent’s hairstyles and wardrobe.

Made in Germany: Handcrafted Excellence

What truly sets Sunbounce apart is its exceptional craftsmanship. Handmade in Germany, Sunbounce products use high-quality aluminum and aircraft-grade materials to create robust yet feather-light frames. The screens, sewn by skilled artisans, are designed to last and perform reliably under the most demanding conditions.

This dedication to quality ensures that Sunbounce products are not only durable but also incredibly effective, providing consistent, clean light without dents, bumps or unevenness.

Sunbounce in Action

I’ve had my eye on Sunbounce products for years, and I finally got to try them out at the ProFusion Expo. The first thing that struck me was the build quality—these aren’t your typical flimsy tools. The frames feel rock-solid, and the fabrics are durable and substantial, which is exactly what you’d expect from German engineering built to last through years of demanding use.

One product that really stood out was the Sun-Mover. Think of it as a pop-up reflector, but way better. The padded hand grips made it easy to hold while also handling my camera—perfect for getting the light exactly where I wanted it. Then there’s the Sun-Bouncer 3D, which takes durability up a notch with its aluminum tube frame that doesn’t bend or flex. Its rectangular shape is ideal for portraits, especially in vertical orientation. Plus, the Grip Head allowed me to mount it on a C-stand so my assistant could focus on other tasks. On top of all this, I love how practical the system is—you can mix and match screens with the same frame, making it an efficient and cost-effective solution for different shoots.

I’m waiting for warmer weather before I can test the rest of the product line.
