Campbell Valley Photo Walk

Like every film walk Kerrisdale Cameras hold, we had a great turn out. We had 30+ attendees (a couple were late and not in the group photo) join us in the super hot heat on July 16th to wonder around Campbell Valley Park in Langley. Participants were up early and were there before the staff showed up. We ran out of the film that was supplied by ILFORD – which was great to see. We anticipated that many people would wonder further around the park, but most found enough fun angles to photograph around the iconic Red Barn.

Our attendees had a range of film equipment. We had half frame cameras, point and shoot, 35mm SLR’s and medium format cameras too!  It was great to see the different cameras that everyone has been shooting with. Some novice and some with many many years of experience.

The continued support from ILFORD from these events has been amazing. Participants are always so impressed that we have been able to supply them with film to shoot. We are always asked when the next event will be. We have tried to hold a film dedicated walk at least once a year. We are finding that since Covid, there is a good amount of people who have picked up photography during the time, and are excited to go and shoot things they normally won’t do. And of course, with the uptake in film photography during the same period, we are finding a younger crowd joining the events.

It was great to see everyone chatting with each other. The photographers who have been doing this forever, helping the new shooters with tips and tricks. Photography is something that we will never stop learning from or about. We have built a community with our photo walk attendees where everyone feels welcome and they continue to grow in popularity.
