“I travel a lot, and when I do I often have to spend hours researching good spots to shoot. I wanted to spend my time shooting, not searching for things to shoot,” says co-founder and photographer Shawn M. Kent, “so I made an app that would make it easy.” PIXEO is an iOS app that includes a mobile map of the world with pins indicating the location of over 11,000 global photo spots. Each pin can be interacted with showing a gallery, information about the site and feedback from other photographers.
Community Collaboration
Photographers can also choose to share their newly discovered locations, add to the galleries of existing locations, and become the feature photographer for their favorite spots. The PIXEO team also adds more spots every day, growing the collection.
Categorization
Categorization makes it easy for photographers to select their preferred genre of photography. Abandoned buildings, scenic vistas, and even waterfalls are all subdivided in the app making it easy to narrow the collection to a photographer’s particular interests.
Favourite Locations
Timing a shoot is important for photographers, requiring planning, finding the right time of day, year, and weather for a location. PIXEO allows users to pick favorite locations so they can track them and visit when the weather is right.
